2013 McGrath Family Update

Seasons Greetings!

Ahhh....the life of toddler parenting.  Leaves little for the self and even less for blogging.  So here goes; an overview of the fun times had here in the McGrath household over the past year.

Gus is turning three in a few short days and is a happy exuberant little boy.  He's headstrong like Mama and fiercely independent, but mostly he's just looking for laughs wherever he can get them-anything for the sake of comedy.  He loves music and reading and playing with his people sets and trains.  Gus is also a bit of a story teller and has a very creative use of his pretty stellar vocabulary which makes family meals quite entertaining.

This year we got a dog, Cash.  Gus and he fight a bit over Gus' toys but overall he's a good little hound dog and is growing more everyday-he's gonna be a big one.  We didn't travel much but managed to spend a few days in Cape Cod in June, went on Aunt Karin and Uncle Robbie's boat a few times, hung out with cousins and friends and took lots of trips to Grandma Goat's farm to help with the animals.  The Schaticoke fair was cool as we saw some elephants up close (see photos), we also had some visitors from New Orleans this summer- (thank you Tanta Maynie and Emma for coming!) and we found some good new playgrounds and of course had ice cream whenever possible.

This fall we had a windfall of apples from our tree in the yard and even got some quinces and pears from some other trees that we hardly noticed last year. Gus was great and had a few mini baskets that he helped gather apples with as his first daily chore.  He's a good helper and pretty darn strong.

Winter here in Albany has already brought considerable snow and with it Gus and Daddy's new found sport of sledding down our back hill.  Mike can't wait to get him on a pair of skis this season, which is better than ice climbing, I know our little daredevil will do just great once he hits the slopes.

In other news;  I landed a new gig at Etsy in Hudson which I begin in two weeks.  Even though I'll be commuting the job is going to be a great change for me and I'm so thankful for my husband who supported me in getting the position-someone buy that man a beer!  Mike too will be starting something 'new'.  Valentines (the rock club he's worked with for fifteen years) will be relocating to Central Ave here and Albany and will open sometime in the first weeks of 2014.  We're looking forward to these new phases for both of us- ONWARD and UPWARD!

Wishing you all a happy and blessed Holiday Season!

Much love,
the McGraths
